Unfortunately, as you go deeper, you don’t have time to take breaks because you can’t pause. The maze-like design of the cave and the abandoned facility is well-thought-out and very detailed, complete with dozens of crates, flickering lights, a bathroom, doors that need keycards that you also need to find, and more. Moreover, the game has a lot of other elements that make it enjoyable. However, the player’s movement is limited and a little slow, and there’s no option to run. Additionally, the design of the monster was great, paired with the chilling sound it makes.
Players will undoubtedly hold their breaths while exploring the cave, especially when the creepy “ shadow people” start showing themselves. Still, the pixel design fits perfectly with the texture and feel of a dark, sinister cave.Īdditionally, it’s worth noting that the game has good pacing in terms of building up to the scary bits. However, the limited illumination can be a little too restrictive for it to be a realistic flashlight view. It’s dark, restricts the vision of the player, and has the right sound effects. In The Mountains gives you more than enough for it to be a good horror game.
